In 2011, the Founder/CEO was deep in the design of a groundbreaking new interactive video software. His vision? Transform videos into touch-interactive experiences supported with flexible, extensible data. With 20 years of expertise in design with the world's leading ad agencies, Jacob was infinitely aware of potential scope of opportunity: anywhere storytelling would be enhanced by interactive assets, and anywhere data was of value to storytellers. The value of the product was obvious, but the team was challenged to prioritize the development of functionality, and experienced constant communication challenges with their technical resources and financial stakeholders.  

 

From 2011 through 2014, I coached and advised the executive team, providing insight into software development life cycles (SDLC) and methodologies, helping them define functional and technical requirements, a capabilities roadmap, solution architecture, and data model. As the team considered business models, I advised on licensing paradigms for data and functionality. The product was soft-launched in 2014 to enthusiastic reception and innovation awards (Innovation Zone Award Winner, CE Week 2014) and in 2015, successfully launched as DataScout (2015-2019) and was eventually licensed as WLVX (White Label Video Experience, 2020-2022) until the product's sunset in 2023.
